A press
conference was called to announce the filing
of an action in the Oklahoma Supreme Court
asking the court to stop the Nov. 2 election
on a Oklahoma Constitutional amendment
defining marriage in Oklahoma as a
union between one man and one woman. It
could also be interpreted to invalidate
common law heterosexual marriages and to
prohibit domestic partnership benefits
extended by employers (like, for example,
SBC, Dell etc.) and to prohibit civil
unions. The case will be heard by a Supreme
Court referee on Wednesday Sept. 8 and
considered by the Court on Sept. 13.

A gay hate crime
Who cares? Who's next? And what happens when the
system doesn't work (for you)? That's what a
young gay Norman couple wondered when they were
assaulted... and, the system let the gay bashers
"off the hook."
The Cimarron
Alliance Foundation is outraged and has agreed
to take on the legal expenses to sue in civil
court. Now, the Foundation is holding a major
fundraiser and "awareness-raiser" at the Copa.
